With a few very existing established trees on the property the idea was to create the garden around them. A challenging aspect of this garden (and continues to be so) was the soil and planting preparation. The garden we removed was installed during the drought period, it was full of succulents/cacti plants with a very thick layer of Dromana toppings over it and had no irrigation. so conditions were very poor, just bringing it up to scratch for planning was a task in itself. Once that was complete we softened the paths with Korean buxus, and filled the garden beds behind with various perennials and shrubs.
